A 19 ft 4 in Texas scooter by Jacques Mertens for Bateau, a flats boat for the shallow bays of the Texas coast. It uses the proven XF20 tunnel hull with much lower freeboard: deck height is only 17 in, so an angler can step on and off without a ladder. It draws 3 in at 1,690 lb, beam is 7 ft 8 in, and power is 50 to 75 hp. The designer limits it to protected water.
Built upside down over MDF molds in plywood-cored epoxy composite. The designer says anyone who has completed a small jig-built boat can manage it. Designer's figures: 80 hours for the hull shell and several hundred hours finished. Budget 300 to 500. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
