Bluefin
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 19 ft 6 in trailerable inboard cruiser from Glen-L Marine with a flying bridge, an open cockpit for fishing or diving, and a cabin with two berths and space for a head. The engine sits centrally over the center of buoyancy, and the double-curvature bottom is planked in double-diagonal plywood for a dry ride. Glen-L publish a beam of 7 ft 9 in and a hull depth of 3 ft 10 in.
The bare hull comes out at about 920 lb. Displacement is 2875 lb. Headroom below is 4'-11". The hull is a vee bottom, hard chine with bulbous keel and reverse curve at chine. Bottom designed for double diagonal plywood planking, sides developed for sheet plywood planking. For power they specify single centrally located inboard motor to 900 lbs. They draw a matching trailer for her. The double-diagonal bottom is more work than sheet planking, and there is an inboard installation. An amateur with one boat behind them should budget 700 to 1,200 hours. Measured medians from logged builds appear below.
What building a Bluefin actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
