A 10 ft vee-bottom general-purpose dinghy by Jacques Mertens for Bateau, for oars, a 35 sq ft sprit sail or an outboard of up to 6 hp. The designer describes it as stable with good carrying capacity and a hull that handles the chop of a windy anchorage better than a flat bottom, while staying light enough to car-top at about 85 lb. Beam is 4 ft 6 in. A 12 ft V12 also exists.
Stitch and glue with butt blocks instead of scarfs. The vee bottom takes longer than the flat-bottomed boats but needs the same skills, so it suits a first build. The designer's average for the hull is 40 hours; budget 60 to 100. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
