Wherry 10
Designed by Ray Klebba
A 10 ft by 4 ft strip built rowing boat sold by White Salmon Boat Works as the 10 ft Cosine Wherry, intended as a yacht tender or anywhere a small boat has to be carried and stored easily. She should weigh about 65 pounds and has a total design displacement of around 300 pounds including the boat, so she is a one or two person craft. The page credits her with real stability and says she reaches hull speed in a few strokes.
There are two rowing stations; the forward one is a little tight for a larger rower but still usable. She is meant to be rowed, though a small motor can be fitted. The design is drawn for strip planking by an amateur working in a small space without expensive tools, and the estimate is 200 to 250 hours. Plans and kits are available from the shop, which also sells a 14 ft version of the wherry.
What building a Wherry 10 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
