Pintail Duck Boat
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Pintail is a 10 ft duck boat with a 40 in beam, light enough for one man to carry and put on a car. The specification gives 75 lb and room for one adult or two children, and the article also recommends it as a year-round fun boat for youngsters on protected water.
It is exterior plywood over a stressed framework with a convex bottom that can be applied in one piece. Frames No. 1 and No. 3 share a pattern, and the No. 2 mold frame of 2 x 4 and 1 x 4 shapes the hull and is removed after planking. Gussets are glued and nailed at the chine joints. The article says it can be built in a week.
What building a Pintail Duck Boat actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
