Blekingseka no. 2
Designed by Bertil Andersson
Built around 1930, probably by Samuel Truedsson of Kuggeboda, this oak eka worked out of Björkenäs as a vittjebåt, the boat that went out to empty the bottom-set trap nets. She had an inboard engine at some point and was wrecked in the same January 1976 storm that destroyed the boat on the first drawing, so the drawing is partly a reconstruction from what remained.
Measured in April 1970, she is 4.91 m long and 1.74 m wide, noticeably beamier than the first Blekingseka in the series, which suits a boat meant to come home with a load of fish. Blekinge builders turned out the type anywhere from 11 to 45 ft and named each size after its job, so a net boat, a herring boat or a freight boat could all be ekor. The plans run to three sheets at 1:10: construction, frames and lines. There is no sail plan for this one.
What building a Blekingseka no. 2 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
