Linnet 16
Designed by Richard Woods
A 4.86 m (16 ft) sea-going rowing skiff by Richard Woods of Woods Designs, close kin to his Bee but with a conventional transom that accepts an outboard of up to 4 hp. Stitch and glue plywood, about 49 kg, rowed by one to three people with room for four adults, plus a small daggerboard and an optional 3.5 sq m sail. Linnets have made long coastal camp-cruising trips, including a run down the River Shannon.
No sliding seat or outriggers to make, and the page quotes a builder for whom this was a first boat and another who found the plans easy to follow. As a rule of thumb budget 80 to 150 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Linnet 16 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
