Flateka no. 31

Designed by Bertil Andersson

A purely inland boat, built entirely of spruce in 1972 by Erik Thorsson at Säldemåla near Holmsjö in Blekinge and used on the lake Sillhövdasjön. She was measured in November 1980.

Andersson writes that the flateka was ideal for shallow lake water, able to run almost straight up onto a smooth shore, and this boat is a clear example: 4.29 m long and only 1.39 m wide, light and easily rowed. The plans are one 1:10 sheet with the construction and frame drawings combined, so they suit a builder who is comfortable filling in details. Flat bottom, small keel for tracking, oars as the main means of propulsion.
