Garnpråm no. 29
Designed by Bertil Andersson
The widest boat in the collection at 2.31 m on a length of 5.87 m, a net barge built in 1950 by the Nilsson brothers at Lilla Beddinge in Skåne for the eel fishery. She was measured in September 1980.
Setting and tending large bottom nets from an open beach called for a steady working platform. In some places fishermen lashed two solid boats together with heavy beams, but a single big flat-bottomed pram like this became the usual answer. The drawing is two sheets at 1:10, a construction drawing and a frame drawing. It is a record of a working craft rather than a pleasure boat, though the shape would make a very stable platform for anyone who needs one.
