Jessy 12
Designed by Graham Byrnes
A 12 ft planing outboard skiff by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, created after builders kept asking for a powered version of the Amanda dinghy. It gives up sailing and rowing in exchange for a 5 ft 1 1/2 in beam, 8 degrees of deadrise and a pure planing bottom, and it runs about 20 mph on 9.9 hp, which is also the maximum. Sealed side seat tanks provide flotation, and it carries three people or 450 lb. Digital plans and a CNC kit are offered.
Stitch and glue with B&B's gear chine joint that locks the bottom to the sides, and described by the designer as an ideal first build. Budget 70 to 130 hours as a rule of thumb. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Jessy 12 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
