Jessy 17

Designed by Graham Byrnes

A 17 ft centre-console plywood skiff by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, drawn at the request of a student in his boatbuilding class as a larger Jessy 15. It has a 6 ft 6 in beam, a 10 degree vee bottom, 8 in of draft, 1,400 lb displacement and a 50 hp maximum. A cockpit sole hides the steering and fuel runs, and foam-filled chambers at bow and stern give flotation. It is currently sold as a CNC kit only.

The hull is folded and stitched upside down, with bottom stringers held by tabs and wedges. B&B says hull two was made even easier to build. Budget 300 to 500 hours as a rough guide. Real hours from logged builds are below.
