SAM was drawn to win. She came in the firm's second year in the class, with that experience behind her, and she is competitive from light airs through to heavy. The construction is sophisticated: the class minimum weight invites carbon and Kevlar in a glass sandwich, ideally vacuum laminated, which is not amateur work. Strip planking is the alternative, slightly heavier and far better suited to a home shop. She is not a cruiser, and the firm says so.
The Micro class boat drawn to win, after a season of racing the Puck taught the studio what the class rewards. Fast in light air and still competitive in a breeze. Round hulled strip planking for an amateur, or a vacuum laminated sandwich for somebody equipped for it.
