F1830 Sit-On-Top Tandem Kayak

Bedard Yacht Design's F1830 is the two-person version of the F1430, stretched to 18 ft while keeping the 30 in beam. The designer calls it a second generation boat with a refined hull and a simpler kit, and the 2019 revision of the plans added intersect lines on the hull panels and reworked bulkheads to save fitting time and weight.

The hull alone weighs about 80 lb, it draws 4 in, and it will carry 500 lb, enough for two adults and a big cooler or two adults with a couple of small children. The aft seat slides forward within the second cockpit so one paddler can trim it properly. The printed plans include two large drawing sheets, three rolls of full-size templates and an assembly manual, and the materials list starts with seven sheets of 4 mm marine plywood.
