Guillemot "L"
Designed by Nick Schade
An 18 ft strip-planked sea kayak by Nick Schade, sold as plans and kits by Chesapeake Light Craft. It is the Guillemot enlarged by about 6 percent in every dimension for bigger paddlers, with a taller foredeck for foot room and volume shifted so that it tracks a little more firmly. Beam is 23 in, the cockpit is 32 by 18 in, hull weight is listed at 40 lb, and it suits paddlers of 190 to 275 lb with a 375 lb maximum payload.
CLC grades it intermediate and estimates 150 hours. The page describes the Guillemot shape as simpler to strip than Schade's Expedition Single. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
