Sponge Docks Skiff 13

The smallest of Bedard Yacht Design's Sponge Docks Skiffs is a 13 ft garvey with a 5 ft 6 in beam, aimed squarely at someone who has never built a boat. The structure is kept simple, the kit parts come with pre-drilled stitching holes, and the plans are backed by a full assembly manual; the designer's line is that anyone who can hold a drill can do it.

Dry weight without engine is about 250 lb, draft is 6 in and the transom is rated to 29 hp, though a 15 hp outboard pushes her along at 18 to 20 mph. The paper plan set has six drawing sheets and two 15 ft rolls of full-size templates, and the materials list calls for nine sheets of plywood in several thicknesses. DXF cut files and a complete kit are also offered for builders with access to CNC cutting.
