16' Seekajak
Designed by Boatkits
A 4.90 m sea kayak, the larger version of the Boatkits 15 ft sea kayak, sold as a CNC-cut stitch-and-glue plywood kit by the German-language shop of Denmark's Boatplans ApS. It carries more and is meant for bigger paddlers while keeping the stability and seakeeping of the smaller boat. The page lists beam as 0.80 m and weight as about 23 kg.
Like its smaller sister it is described as a little more complicated to build than the firm's standard kayak. The kit house's figure is 60 to 70 hours to the bare hull, with finishing put at 1 to 1.5 times as much on top. Budget roughly 120 to 175 hours. Hours recorded by builders on this site are shown below.
What building a 16' Seekajak actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
