Magnum 12
Designed by Mark Bowdidge
A 3.65 m car-top boat by Mark Bowdidge of Bowdidge Marine Designs, Australia, intended to ride on the roof of a four-wheel drive and turn a camping trip into a fishing one. She is 1.45 m wide with 7 degrees of deadrise, full forward sections and generous flare for a dry ride on rivers, estuaries and lakes. Bench seats, a front deck and a flat floor are standard, and power is 9.9 to 15 hp from a portable tank.
Built in plywood and epoxy composite from 11 plan sheets with full-size patterns, she is one of the simpler boats in the range and a sound first project. The designer publishes no hours. Budget 150 to 250 as an estimate. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Magnum 12 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
