Roberts 25
Designed by Bruce Roberts-Goodson
The Roberts 25 is one of Bruce Roberts' best known small cruisers, a 25 ft 3 in trailer sailer that he says over a thousand owners have taken up. She is 8 ft wide, trailers at about 3,500 lb, and has 6 ft of headroom; shoal and deep keels are drawn, at 2 ft 6 in and 3 ft 6 in. The designer rates her as rugged enough for offshore cruising, easy for one person to sail and able to take a small family on longer trips.
There are two versions on the plans, a standard coach house with alternative layouts and a pilot house with standing headroom throughout. The sloop rig is standard, though owners have fitted junk rigs too. The design is drawn for wood and epoxy or fibreglass, and one owner bought plans around 1975 and finished a bought hull and deck into a cruiser that went on to sail both coasts of the United States.
