Cape May 25

A 7.73 m (25 ft 4 in) on deck trailable gaff cutter by Dudley Dix, the middle boat of the lapstrake plywood range that started with the Cape Cutter 19. It was drawn for a client nearly 2 m tall, so the forward berths are 2.2 m long and the cockpit is long enough to sleep in. Displacement is 2,650 kg with 870 kg of ballast, sail area 450 sq ft, and the centreplate gives 2 ft to 5 ft 4 in of draft.

It is built over permanent plywood bulkheads and an interlocking backbone, with stringers at every chine. Dix says a handyman of reasonable ability can produce one. Budget roughly 2,000 to 3,000 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
