Cackler 14

Designed by Sam Devlin

A 14 ft 3 in hunting skiff by Sam Devlin, drawn for places where seaworthiness matters and bad weather may have to be outrun. Chesapeake Light Craft sells the kit packages and Devlin sells the plans. Beam is 66 in, dry weight about 400 lb, and the specified maximum is 30 hp, carried in an outboard well with six-gallon tanks either side. Devlin reports it planing with four hunters, three dogs and decoys aboard.

Stitch-and-glue from traditional plans. CLC rates it advanced, for builders at ease with drawings, stationary tools and epoxy work, and estimates 250 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
