Black Brant III 15
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 14 ft 3 in duck boat by Sam Devlin, a shallower and faster development of the Black Brant II. She draws 7.5 in, weighs about 225 lb dry and takes up to a 30 hp outboard, with a little more sitting blind height than her sister. Devlin suggests the III for long runs over thin water and the II for open water close to the ramp. The plans were revised in November 2024 with imperial and metric dimensions together.
A stitch and glue build on the same lines as the Black Brant II, approachable for a careful first-timer. Budget 150 to 250 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
