Faering Cruiser
Designed by John C. Harris
A 22 ft 6 in double-ended camp cruiser by John C. Harris of Chesapeake Light Craft, modelled on the Norwegian faering and stretched from a 19 ft 8 in prototype. It combines a sliding rowing seat amidships, a small sleeping cuddy aft and a 125 sq ft rig forward. Beam is 58 in, draft 8 in with the board up, weight about 650 lb and payload 550 lb. CLC offers a basic hull kit plus complete plans and patterns.
LapStitch lapstrake plywood, mostly 9 mm okoume. CLC rates it advanced, for builders who can work from traditional plans, and estimates 600 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Faering Cruiser actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
