Kaholo Stand-Up Paddleboard 14
Designed by John C. Harris
A 14 ft hollow wooden stand-up paddleboard designed by John C. Harris of Chesapeake Light Craft with input from paddleboard specialist Larry Froley, sold as plans and kits. It is the larger Kaholo, meant for bigger paddlers or for carrying a child or a dog, and is quick enough to have a following among racers. Okoume plywood is stitched and glued over an internal grid of bulkheads and stiffeners, then glassed. It is 29-1/2 in wide at the rail, weighs about 32 lb and carries 300 lb. A hybrid kit with a cedar-strip deck is also offered.
CLC rates it a beginner project and estimates 70 hours, and describes it as well suited to a first build. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
