Lighthouse Tender Peapod
Designed by John C. Harris
A 13 ft 5 in double-ended rowing and sailing boat by John C. Harris of Chesapeake Light Craft, sold as plans and kits. Harris based it on the Old Sailing Peapod from Washington County, Maine, built about 1886 and recorded by Howard Chapelle in American Small Sailing Craft. The lapstrake plywood hull is stitched and glued with no mold, in the manner of CLC's Tenderly Dinghy. Beam is 52 in, hull weight 160 lb, sail area 95 sq ft and payload 650 lb. Lug and yawl rigs are offered.
CLC rates it a beginner project, with a manual written for people using epoxy and fiberglass for the first time, and estimates 200 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
