Mill Creek 13
Designed by Chesapeake Light Craft
A 13 ft stitch-and-glue recreational kayak from Chesapeake Light Craft, in the spirit of the decked double-paddle canoes of the 1920s and 1930s. WoodenBoat ran it as a two-issue building feature in 1997. At 29-1/2 in wide with a 57 in cockpit it is steadier and easier to get into than a sea kayak, which suits photography, fly fishing and birding, while the five-panel multichine hull and 40 lb weight keep it reasonably quick. Maximum payload is 300 lb. Plans, kits and a sailing kit are sold.
CLC rates it a beginner project and estimates 80 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Mill Creek 13 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
