Nymph 10 Canoe
Designed by Nick Schade
A 10 ft strip-planked pack canoe by Nick Schade, sold as plans and kits by Chesapeake Light Craft. It is his take on J. Henry Rushton's ultralight solo canoes such as the Sairy Gamp, paddled with a double blade from a kayak-style seat on the bottom. Built with 1/4 in bead-and-cove cedar strips it weighs about 23 lb, and thinner 3/16 in strips can bring it to 15 lb or less. Beam is 25-1/2 in and it carries paddlers up to about 170 lb, 200 lb in all.
CLC grades it intermediate and estimates 110 hours. Schade wrote up the build in WoodenBoat and in his book Building Strip-Planked Boats. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
