Wood Duck 10 Hybrid

A 10 ft recreational kayak that keeps the stitch-and-glue plywood hull of Eric Schade's Wood Duck 10 for Chesapeake Light Craft and replaces the plywood deck with cedar strips. It is 30 in wide and about 36 lb, with a 38 in cockpit, and takes paddlers from 60 to 200 lb with a 250 lb payload. The strip deck lets builders work out their own patterns. Complete kits, wood-only kits and plans with manual are offered.
CLC rates the hybrid intermediate, suited to builders with a bit more woodworking skill than the plywood version asks for, and estimates 120 hours against 80 for the standard boat. Budget 100 to 150. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
