Wood Duck Double

A 14 ft tandem recreational kayak from Chesapeake Light Craft, developed by Eric Schade from his Wood Duck 14 hull. It has one long open cockpit for two average adults or a 400 lb total load, a 30 in beam and a weight of around 60 lb, with bulkheads and flush hatches at bow and stern. CLC says it is stable enough to step into from a low dock and tracks well without a rudder. Plywood and hybrid kits and plans are sold.
Stitch-and-glue at its simplest, and CLC calls it an ideal first project, rated beginner at an estimated 90 hours. One builder quoted on the page also logged about 90. Budget 80 to 120. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
