Amak 26 Tugboat
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 26 ft 3 in tugboat concept by Sam Devlin of Devlin Designing Boat Builders, the smallest of his Amak series, named after the 1890s wooden tug he worked aboard in Ketchikan as a student. She is a heavy little ship for her length at 9,000 lb, with a 10 ft beam, 39 in draft and an inboard diesel of 30 to 100 hp turning a big propeller.
Only study plans are published so far, and Devlin invites anyone serious to contact him to have the design developed. A displacement tug with a full cabin and inboard machinery is a project for an experienced amateur. Expect 2,500 hours or more as a rough rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Amak 26 Tugboat actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
