Curlew 24
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 24 ft 10 in cruising sailboat concept by Sam Devlin, drawn in 2005 for a couple who loved their Nancy's China but wanted more comfort as they got older. She is 8 ft 1 in in beam, draws 40 in, displaces 3,692 lb and has a 10 to 20 hp inboard diesel. Devlin notes it was among his last largely hand-drawn designs, made as he moved to CAD. The customer chose another boat, so none was built at the time.
Only study plans exist, and Devlin invites enquiries about developing the concept. A keelboat of this size suits a builder with experience. As a rule of thumb, allow 1,800 to 2,500 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Curlew 24 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
