Honker 18
Designed by Sam Devlin
An 18 ft 3 in outboard utility and sporting skiff by Sam Devlin, a bigger sister to his Cackler 14 and Snow Goose 16 and built stitch and glue. Light and shallow, it draws 8.5 in fully loaded, is listed at 475 lb with a 1,580 lb maximum load, and runs about 30 knots with a 60 hp outboard. It is meant for fishing, duck hunting and trailer-launched beach cruising, with room for three people and a week of gear and optional lockable dry stowage.
Study and full construction plans are sold, and the construction set includes a pilothouse option. An open skiff like this is within reach of a careful first-time builder. As a rule of thumb, budget 300 to 600 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.

Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
