Pelicano 18 Bassboat
Designed by Sam Devlin
An 18 ft 4 in outboard speedboat with a cuddy, the most livable version of the Pelicano 18. The hull is Sam Devlin's take on the Mexican panga: a fast six-panel planing form with a stainless-shod purpleheart keel for beaching. The Bassboat has a roomy cabin forward with space for a v-berth. The page lists a 6 ft 6 in beam, 1,490 lb dry with engine and battery, a 90 hp maximum and better than 40 mph.
Stitch and glue over five bulkheads and two longitudinals, with a second plywood layer cold molded onto the bottom. The cabin adds work, so some experience helps. Devlin quotes 700 to 900 hours for the larger Pelicano 23; budget roughly 450 to 750 here. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Pelicano 18 Bassboat actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
