Lit'l Petrel 9
Designed by Sam Devlin
An 8 ft 11.25 in pram dinghy by Sam Devlin, the big sister of his Micro Petrel and built stitch and glue from a few sheets of 1/4 in marine plywood. It is a yacht tender tough enough to live aboard a larger boat. Beam is 4 ft 2 3/8 in, draft 5 in, hull weight 63 lb and useful load 340 lb.
Devlin suggests it as a project to build with children or grandchildren, so it is a fair first boat. Study plans, construction plans and a CNC-cut kit are offered. As a rule of thumb, budget 30 to 60 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Lit'l Petrel 9 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
