Designed by Sam Devlin
A 27 ft 7 in offshore-capable cruising sloop by Sam Devlin, notable as a true multi-chine stitch and glue hull whose plywood panels read almost like a round-bottomed boat with laps. Beam is 8 ft 6 in, draft 54 in, sail area 401 sq ft, with an inboard diesel and an outboard rudder kept simple on purpose. Below there is 6 ft 3 in headroom under a trunk cabin, galley to port, head to starboard, two settees and a double berth forward.
Study and construction plans are sold, and Devlin also builds it to order. A ballasted cruising yacht with a full interior is work for an experienced amateur. As a rule of thumb, expect 3,000 to 5,000 hours spread over several years. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
