Rover 29 Halibut
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 28 ft 11 in a double-ended, full-displacement diesel cruiser that Sam Devlin based on the small Norwegian fishing trollers of the North Sea and that grew out of his earlier Oysta 30 motorsailer. Beam is 10 ft 2 in, draft 3 ft 7 in, displacement 9,800 lb, with a 110 hp inboard diesel. The Halibut, drawn in two layouts, has an aft pilothouse with a cockpit ahead of it and a separate cabin forward.
Only study plans are listed for the Rover 29, so construction drawings would have to be arranged with the designer. A heavy displacement hull with an inboard and full accommodation is experienced-amateur work. As a rule of thumb, expect 3,000 to 5,000 hours.
