Scaup 18

An 18 ft 7 in sneakbox-type duck boat by Sam Devlin, the bigger sister to the Scaup 16. The extra length and beam give considerably more volume, which means room for a couple more hunters, large dogs or more decoys, better seakeeping and a higher-horsepower outboard. The page lists draft at 9.75 in loaded and displacement at 2,000 lb. Construction plans are sold in separate imperial and metric editions, printed or as downloads.

Like the 16 it is a decked stitch and glue outboard hull with no cabin, within reach of a careful first-time builder who has room for it. Budget 200 to 350 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
