Surf Scoter 24 Traditional
Designed by Sam Devlin
The traditional version of Sam Devlin's Surf Scoter 24, a trailerable outboard pilothouse boat. The 24 grew out of two Surf Scoter 23s built at the Devlin shop and adds about 2 ft to the Surf Scoter 22 Cruiser, giving a larger cockpit and berth area, forward-slanted pilothouse windows, more galley and an enclosed head. The Traditional keeps the scooped Surf Scoter sheer and a regular transom.
Construction plans in imperial and metric arrived in August 2026, and kits are available on request. The site publishes no dimensions, so check the study plans. A pilothouse cruiser of this size suits a builder with some experience. As a rule of thumb, expect 1,200 to 2,000 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Surf Scoter 24 Traditional actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
