Bluebill 12
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 12 ft sneakbox-style hunting boat by Sam Devlin, an enlarged development of his Broadbill that carries two hunters and their gear. Chesapeake Light Craft supplies plywood, timber and fiberglass kit packages, and the plans come from Devlin. It is 59 in wide, draws 7.25 in, weighs about 225 lb dry, and carries an outboard of up to 20 hp in a well forward of the transom, with fuel tanks either side.
Stitch-and-glue, built from traditional plans dimensioned in imperial and metric. CLC grades it advanced and estimates 150 hours, noting that finish and outfitting change the total a good deal. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Bluebill 12 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
