An 8 ft tender by Walt Simmons of Duck Trap Woodworking, commissioned as a quick and cheap boat for the shingle beaches of Puget Sound. Because she was expected to take a daily beating, everything in her can be bought at an ordinary lumberyard, which is where the name comes from. She is 4 ft 4 in wide, 1 ft 4 in deep amidships and weighs about 65 lb.
The designer gives a building time of 30 hours or less, and the plan is among the cheapest he sells. She is a realistic first boat for someone with basic tools. A first-time builder might allow 40 to 70 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
