Argie 10
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 3.1 m (10 ft 2 in) stitch and glue plywood dinghy by Dudley Dix that can be rowed, sailed or motored. It was commissioned for a build series in the Cape Town newspaper The Argus as a bigger sister to his Dixi Dinghy. The whole boat comes from three sheets of 6 mm plywood, with buoyancy compartments built in, a 56.5 sq ft sail, and a finished weight of 35 to 40 kg, light enough to car-top.
Dix aims it at builders with no previous experience, few tools and little space, and the plans include step-by-step instructions. No building stocks are needed. Kits are sold in the USA and elsewhere. Budget 40 to 70 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Argie 10 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
