Duo 10
Designed by Richard Woods
A 3 m (10 ft) hard-chine rowing and sailing dinghy by Richard Woods of Woods Designs, named for the two sheets of 4 mm plywood that make the rowing hull. About 20 kg, 5 sq m unstayed rig, one to three crew, 2.5 hp maximum. Clip-on inflatable tubes steady it as a tender, slot-in foam wings widen it for sailing, and a nesting version stows on a cabin top. It is also the main hull of his Tryst trimaran.
Woods gives 35 hours as the typical time for the basic rowing boat ready to paint, the figure his own prototype reached with daggerboard case and two coats on. Allow more for the sailing and nesting options. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Duo 10 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
