The editors of Family Circle asked for a triple-purpose boat, sailing, rowing and motoring, that a beginner could build and that would go on a car roof. At 10 ft the 3-In-1 is the smallest thing here asked to do three jobs, and by the company's own account it sails with real spirit in a breeze even with a family of four aboard. The balance is good and the tacking certain, which makes her probably the easiest boat they draw to sail.
Two neat pieces of design do most of the work. The rowing thwart doubles as the daggerboard case, so the board costs no space that was not already taken, and there is a built-in well for a small outboard or an electric. Storage fore and aft takes either flotation foam or supplies, depending on which of the three jobs she is doing that day.
