Argie 15
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 4.7 m (15 ft 5 in) stitch and glue plywood family dinghy by Dudley Dix that rows, sails or takes an outboard of up to 10 hp. It was planned from the start as a possible camp cruiser, with 1.9 m of clear floor for sleeping aboard. Sail area is 105 sq ft, and the basic hull weighs about 70 kg, or 100 kg with the optional full-length side seats.
Dix puts it within reach of the average DIY enthusiast with no boatbuilding experience, and the plans carry step-by-step instructions. Full size patterns and plywood kits are available. Budget 100 to 180 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Argie 15 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
