Dix 430
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 13.15 m (43 ft 2 in) cruising catamaran by Dudley Dix in radius chine plywood and epoxy, the smallest sister to his Dix 470 and DH550. It sleeps eight in four equal cabins, which suits crewed or bareboat charter, and has an inside helm with a compact working cockpit ahead of the saloon. Overall beam is 7.2 m, displacement 10,300 kg, draft 1.0 m, sail area 911 sq ft, with twin 30 hp diesels.
It can be built from plans and offsets, with optional Mylar bulkhead patterns, or from a pre-cut plywood kit by Exocetus Marine. The method is amateur friendly but the project is very large. Expect 8,000 to 12,000 hours as a rule of thumb. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
