Carioca
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 17 ft deep-vee cruiser from Glen-L Marine with a full 18 degree deadrise cushioned by lift strakes, two full-length vee berths, a galley area, room for a head and a big cockpit. Practical Boat Owner reported one planing easily on a 60 hp outboard. Sheet plywood, about 750 lb, outboards to 135 hp or a stern-drive inboard.
A conventional plywood build with a small cabin. Budget 400 to 700 hours. Measured medians from logged builds appear below.
What building a Carioca actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
