Chunky Dory
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A modified Pacific power dory from Glen-L Marine on one set of plans in 20 ft 4 in, 23 ft and 25 ft 8 in lengths, with a choice of a smoother vee-entry bottom or the simpler all-flat one, and I/O, transom or well-mounted outboard power. Half-inch plywood bottom over 2 in sawn frames, or welded aluminum; planes on about 40 hp.
Rugged, simple and inexpensive, and easy to modify. Budget 500 to 900 hours depending on length. Measured medians from logged builds appear below.
What building a Chunky Dory actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
