A 9 ft J Class racing runabout from Glen-L Marine, about 85 lb, capable of 35 mph straightaways on a 7.5 cu in motor, with the beam carried wide at the transom for reserve buoyancy and flaring sides to prevent tripping in fast turns. Sheet plywood monoplane bottom; plans and patterns or a frame kit.
Well within the abilities of most first-time builders, and popular with young racers. Allow 50 to 100 hours. Measured medians from logged builds appear below.
