Float a Home
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Float-a-Home is a 21 ft houseboat with a 7 ft 3 in beam, rated for up to 120 hp and costed at about $850 when published. The article admits houseboats belong on sheltered water and are slow, but credits this one with good stability from a heavy keel, close framing and a low profile.
The layout has a conning room with swing-away windows for a clear view forward, a settee behind the helm that extends into a berth, a removable companionway step with a fold-away berth behind it, a galley to port and an open patio on the after deck. The article encourages builders to rearrange the interior to suit themselves. Seven pages, free from the archive.

Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
