Missile
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Missile is a 19 ft 6 in racing sailboat by C. T. Allen, aimed at the backyard builder who wanted competition or fast sailing for little money. The published specifications give a 50 in beam, 116 sq ft of sail, 30 in draft, 21 in depth, 200 lb of ballast and a crew of two.
She is a long, narrow boat of 3/8 in exterior plywood over sawn and glued frames, with a tall jib-headed rig. Fourteen pages of scanned drawings and text make it one of the more complete plans in the archive. A boat for someone who wants a slim, fast two-person day racer and is happy building from a magazine set.
What building a Missile actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
