POD Dory
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Pod is a 15 ft 5 in rowing dory, 52 in in beam and 11 ft 6 in on the waterline, drawn for someone who enjoys exercise and a quiet boat. A narrow bottom tapered at both ends lets her slip through the water, and flared sides keep her dry in a chop.
She is built from three pieces of marine plywood, two sides and a bottom, and needs no frames, which the article says makes about the simplest boatbuilding there is and leaves fewer places for rot. Optional frames are drawn for builders who prefer them. The building frame is two 16 ft 2 x 6s on sawhorses.
What building a POD Dory actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
